So, does this mean we will have to cope with bots for as long as social media exists? Well, to be honest, we don’t know. Unfortunately, every time they repeat the process, new ones appear. In fact, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram have already cleared all bots from their sites more than once. Unfortunately, it’s very difficult to eradicate bots from social media. For instance, all those Instagram accounts with photos of half-naked ladies, who promise to send you nudes if you enter a certain link are actually spambots. And let’s face it, who here likes spam? Moreover, bots can go as far as to scam you and steal your information for shady purposes.
In general, bots are the number one source of spam on social media. From liking a post to comment on a photo, etc. But, how is this any of our business? Well, you see, bots are programmed to do a bunch of stuff on social media. Indeed, bots have invaded Instagram and all its peers. Instagram, as well as all social media platforms, have a problem in common – bots! As a matter of fact, they now have over 1 billion monthly active users who enjoy the perks of the site every day.
